How gay is this guy?
You decide (via wikipedia, emphases mine):
He graduated first in the class of 1973 from La Lumiere, a small Catholic boarding school near LaPorte, Indiana. He studied six years of Latin and some French and was known for his devotion to his studies. He was co-captain of the football team and described himself as a "slow-footed linebacker." He also wrestled, was co-editor of the school newspaper, served on the athletic council and served on the Executive Committee of the Student Council. He also took part in choir and drama.
My early years were very similar and, dude, I'm a total 'mo.
(PS - Yes, this is off topic.)

Adding the obligatory, "not that there's anything wrong with that."
I just worry about what his presence on the Court might do to that ultra-sexy hunk o'manflesh Nino Scalia.

Liberals sure are a weird bunch. They profess to be tolerant of everything and everyone, including gays, yet they would try to use the very idea that he could be gay as a weapon against him, hoping that any controversy might derail his appointment to the Court. How insulting to gays to be used in that way.
Not having read your blog before, I don't know if this was your intent or not, but now that Wonkette picked it up you can bet that the rest of the nutty left (Daily KOS/DU) will be spreading the story far and wide.
Oh, and Onlylogical? Maybe they just couldn't have a baby -- many people can't and the last time I looked it wasn't connected to their religious preference.

TWM, I don't think that the MO is hoping to "derail his appointment to the court" with this post. I generally think that's left to people in the government, not bloggers.
I don't want to speak for MO, but I'd have to guess that he finds hypocrisy just as funny as me. Paging Rick Santorum.

Hi, Manhattan Offender here. Being gay is a reason I would support Roberts.
It was merely using irony to produce a laugh or two. (For the irony-challenged: It would be ironic for Bush to appoint a gay man to the Supreme Court as he has often expressed many things that gay people have found to be offensive.)
My whole site is similar in nature. I make fun of everyone, especially myself.

Accd. to the NYTimes, Sandra Day O'Connor dated Rehnquist when they were students at Stanford Law.
At least we know THEY were het. Even if they couldn't breed.

I think an ass is sterile -- or is that a mule?

First -- "'mo", very in, very now.
Second -- I went to an all-girl Anglican boarding school for 10 years. I was into loads of sporting activities at school (some of them actually TEAM sports, the horror), where I showered daily with naked girls. And I am 30 and unmarried!!
Dear God, I'm even a practising Catholic (emphasis mine).
Alas for me, something went awfully wrong, because I turned out heterosexual. :(
I blame my parents, as should future Justice Roberts.
Cheers,

I'd be interested in hearing Bush's offensive remarks catalogued. Last I heard, he acknowledged that it was against his faith to act on one's homosexuality, but he'd done plenty of things himself that were against his own moral code, and he wasn't going to bash gays.
(Yeah, yeah: gay marriage, constitutional amendment. I personally don't think he ever would have gone along with that if he'd thought it might pass, but he needed to throw the far-right a bone. Better that than something that might have gone somewhere.)

Perhaps Roberts got over his 'mo phase in high school, like most young str8 men - a little bit goes a long way when you are 'curious' or 'questioning' - and those free-wheeling days of the 70s would have provided a fertile backdrop to such experimenting. But let's respect his marriage, at least he is trying to portray some semblance of hetero respectability. After all, confirmation hearings have rules! And since the confirmation committee won't ask, he won't tell.
The gay marriage issue isn't really relevant to this blog thread, but since it came up, if you are asking me to pay taxes and follow your laws, then give me the same rights. "Separate but equal" didn't work for black folks or women, and it sure as hell ain't gonna work for me!

MO,
I take you at your word that you were just having fun with this little post, but now that your comments have taken off in the liberal blogosphere, I am curious if you have second thoughts. Or at least if you are now surprised at the attention the subject is getting.
When I read it had been picked up by Wonkette I knew it would rush through the liberal network like a wildfire during the dry summer season and it is now doing just that.
Oh, and I love irony. I use it quite often actually. But it is better when it is based on some truth and not fiction.

David

Conservatives are such losers. I thought we liberals were whiny bitches, but one gay guy makes a joke about one of yours (hint: gay people think everyone is gay) and you're all in a tizzy. waaah, MO made fun of my favorite SCOTUS nominee, waaaah.
Posted by: Luther Lovely | 22 July 2005 at 10:21 AM
I am afraid you misunderstand. I am not in a "tizzy" over it -- I could care less if the guy is gay or not. As if that should be any consideration for being nominated to SCOTUS.
This particular conservative is simply puzzled by the use of someone's sexuality as a weapon against him or her. I mean, we all know conservatives hate gays so it makes sense if we bash them. But I thought liberals loved gays and using homosexuality as a weapon to try to get the "gay-hating" conservatives to not support this guy because he might be gay seems to me to be manipulative and mean -- but not to Roberts -- to gays.
It appears that if one is gay there is only one correct way to think and that is the liberal way. If they do not, then they are the enemy.
You did educate me a bit though because I did not realize that gay people thought everyone was gay.I suppose it makes sense though since when your team is outnumbered it does help to maintain a positive attitude.
I don't suppose you will believe me but two of my best friends are gay. One of who recently had twins (via anonymous donor) with her partner of five years. She named the boy David.

David

Okay folks. I'm closing down the comments as I don't have time to be deleting "beat the shit out of the fags" type posts. I'm busy with my slave-wagery.
But thank you for visiting. This isn't really the funniest post I've ever done. Look in the archives and realize that this is a personal blog, with humorous intent.
