The eyepatch conveys upon its wearer the assumption that the they must have a story to tell, be it a sword-fight, a tragic accident, or medical malpractice. Although modern medicine has lessened the prevalence of the patch, those wearing the patch remain as iconic as ever.

A new icon was born this very morning with a swollen left eye that would not stop tearing up. The eye had been a problem yesterday, but a visit to the doctor today confirmed that there was a problem: an infected tear duct. The diagnosis complete, the doctor dispensed a prescription of two antibacterial eye-drops four times daily and the wearing of an eyepatch for the next several days.
Argh, right?
